Play Ludo online with friends, on live voice

Ludo was always a talking game: the groans, the cheers, the argument over whether that six was really a six. LudoTalk keeps that. It is Ludo in your browser where every board is also a live voice call, free to play, with nothing to install.

What LudoTalk is

LudoTalk is a free Ludo game by GabbleGames. Two, three or four players sit at one board and talk to each other on a live voice call while they play. It runs in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer, so there is nothing to download. You open the page, sign in with Google and you are at a board.

How to play Ludo online with family

  1. Open LudoTalk and sign in.
  2. Start a game and copy your link.
  3. Paste it in the family group. Everyone taps it, signs in with one tap and takes a colour at your board.
  4. Roll the die. The tokens that can legally move are highlighted, so the youngest player cannot get stuck and the oldest cannot claim a misunderstanding.

If someone is late, an empty seat can be filled by a robot until they arrive, so the game does not wait. Never played before? Start with how to play Ludo.

Why live voice matters

Most Ludo apps put your opponents behind a screen name and a chat box of stock phrases. Ludo is a social game, and half of the pleasure is the reaction. On LudoTalk everyone at the board hears everyone else in real time: the shout when a token is one step from home, the silence when it is sent back. Cousins in different countries can play the same board and talk the whole time, and there is text chat for the player who refuses to unmute.

Friends first

You see who is online, who is in a game and who still owes you a rematch, and you can start the next round with one tap.

Is it really free?

Yes. LudoTalk is free to play. New adult accounts receive 1,000 play coins, which only raise the stakes at the bigger tables and are for bragging: they can never be cashed out.

Is it safe for children?

Accounts need to be 13 or older. Players aged 13 to 17 play only other teenagers, never adults, and never for coins. Families who want a safe table for a mixed group can start their own game and invite only the people they know.

Try it against robots first

You can practise against robots on the board on the LudoTalk home page, before you send out an invitation. That is a good way to learn the rhythm of the game, including the odds on the die and the safe squares. Then bring in real people, and the stakes change.

On a phone, tablet or computer

The board is drawn to fit whatever screen you have, and it turns so that your own yard is always the nearest corner. That means the same game works for a grandparent on a tablet and a teenager on a phone, side by side. On Android you can also play with people in the same room without the internet. Because it is a web page, there is no store to visit and nothing to update.
